trial version of Eco Living

I dont have Eco Living but was offered at trial version of it from today until Monday. I had been curious about it as I didnt buy it as I had heard awful things about the NAP's etc. I played it for a while and used cheats (as I dont have a lot of time in the trial game!) to clean it up and make the communal areas into gardens markets etc but there is a lot of rubbish lying around and a factory pumping stuff into the water - is there a cheat to get rid of this stuff? As all the rubbish lying around (that I cant do anything with - I have tried clicking on it) is putting me off and I cant build beautiful eco houses with trash lying around? Any experience eco living simmers out there help please :)

  • @foxybilly You need to use a NAP to clear the trash from EL neighbourhoods. It's the modern development one.
Edit: Didn't know the green inititives also clean the neighbourhoods, learned something new :)

I have a problem - I can't find my sim's fabricated items. Can they "fail" during the process? I've had the eco parts come up fine, and the rugs, but I've tried to fabricate other items at least twice and failed to find them in either my sim's inventory or the household inventory.

Yes, Fabrication can fail, especially early skill level I guess. It grabs them sometimes and they go for an unexpected dip in the machine. It’s quite the animation but doesn’t hurt them.

That's what I was thinking but I wasn't entirely sure as I haven't tried very many items yet. It's a little disappointing but oh well!
  • CK213, I actually did try the NAPS when I first got the pack, and will probably try them again when I play a game committed to the Eco Living gameplay. I didn't care for the NAPS and mostly play in other neighborhoods so prefer to have them turned off. I do love the community spaces and wish they weren't tied to the NAPS. When I get a new pack I like to try out all the gameplay it offers to see how it plays out and whether or not it is something I will enjoy or use all the time or just in certain game stories.

I've changed all the pre made houses into eco houses - apart from the apartment buildings which I can't put panels on the roof etc - but the rubbish piles still seem to be everywhere - does anyone know how many game 'weeks' it takes to clear up the stuff as its irritating having a lovely green eco house (loving the CAS and build&buy with this pack! the hexagonal floor tiles are gorgeous) with piles of rubbish and industrial waste everywhere else? Also the dumpster diving I can't find a dumpster to save my sims life lol

As this is only a trial until Monday its unlikely anything I do will completely get rid of the rubbish in time for me to see what it wold look like without all the crud everywhere

I was hoping it would be like Sulani - you pick up the rubbish and recycle it but you cant click on any of the rubbish piles which is a shame - from what I gather you have to dumpster dive for rubbish to go into the recycling machines? Its not very clear to be honest

You need a Sim living in the neighbourhood you want to clean up. Then when voting is on (Friday to Monday) vote in “Green Initiatives in Port Promise” or “Green Initiatives in Grims Quarry.” It is per neighbourhood, not world.
Once voted in, it takes the whole in game week from Monday evening to Monday again for everything to clear up completely.

There is also a “Modern Initiatives in ” which will work the same.

Both on together has very significant effect.

Thank you that's a huge help - its unfortunate I won't have a long enough time to do it as the trial but I do like the world - its a shame the waters aren't swimmable though - I love this try before you buy thing that EA are doing, hope they do it again with one of the other worlds I would love to try Mount Komorebi :)
