I haven't done much with the soccer ball, either, but in general, I'm all for small objects that individual sims can use to kill a few minutes here and there, that signal their unique personal interests and habits. I'm a micromanager, so sometimes I want something for them to do for just a few minutes until it's time to do something else, without getting sucked into some long and involved activity when it's almost time for school, work, dinner, etc. I think the rubiks cube could be very good for the same reason. ETA: the sculpting clay
should fall into this category, but it never fails to annoy me that you can't make anything permanent with it.
Which is not to say I'm not interested in more group activities. I very much hope that there will be an option for parents to toss the football around with their kids... including child sims, not just teens. I wish we had a lot more options like that in the game: interactions for parents to teach their kids to use the telescope, teach to ride a bike, etc. I was so hopeful when they added "cook together" that we would see more interactions like that. So hopefully the football will have that option!
