What last name do you give the babies of unmarried sims?

I'm playing The Island Challenge and am debating over which last name to use for any babies my unmarried sims may have. Do you usually use the mother's last name, the father's or a hyphenated combinat...

Typically the mother's name, though it varies. If only one parent will be raising the kid, the kid gets that last name. If they plan on getting married I usually give the kid whichever last name the parents will have.
