What makes Sims be mean to each other autonomously?

As far as I know, sentiments aren't hidden traits. I think they are more like relationship bits.
Whenever I look at a sim's information for hidden buffs or traits, sentiments aren't listed. But I can find them when I look at MCCC logs. If you create a log for a sim with MCCC (MC Command Center > Sim Commands > Logging Commands > Log Sim Details > Select Relationships then Create Detail Log) it'll create a detail log and you can see the sentiments listed with bits.
I'm not very savvy when it comes to the technical stuff, but I pulled up my sim's log and this is what is listed for his relationship with his boyfriend:
All the sentiments are listed with the relationship bits like soulmates, good friends, significant other.
UI Cheats has a way to add and remove unwanted sentiments if they are currently on a sim. Just go to the relationship panel and right click the sentiment or the green sentiment bar.
