I also play in the regional style. I have put Mt. Komorebi and Sulani together before and called it the Pacific region BUT that really doesn't make a ton of sense if you're trying to play realistically because a day trip from Japan to Hawaii isn't the most feasible. I now have Mt. K, Sulani, and Selvadorada as their own unique worlds not connected to any one region. I've put enough stuff in Mt. K and Sulani that I don't feel deprived if I have sims living there.
But it is a game, after all, so you don't have to play it too realistically.
