What's the long term pattern of Life/Death pack

Hello, I'm learning the things in the pack, but just want the big overview of how it works. Is it:  When you die you become a ghost so that you can do whatever you need to do to "rez" again? Is ...

I don't have the pack but I believe the ability to choose to either play as the ghost or not came in the bg update but to rebirth, you need the pack.

The sim has to finish their souls journey/unfinished business to rebirth.

I believe that you need to acquire the burning soul trait so you can recall a trait from your past life after you rebirth.

But I dont know for sure. All my info I've gathered is from gameplay videos and articles.
