Why does everybody hate the idea of multiplayer in TS5?

i feel like the multiplayer option doesn't suit the very core of the sims game. also considering how lacking sims 4 was in comparison to sims 3 and sims 2, i feel like the multiplayer option would just be a way of 'covering up' any potential lack of depth by making multiple players having to put up with each other if you will. like if it was executed well it would mean that the players would for better or worse be entertaining one another as opposed being entertained by just the game
