Yeah, it seems pretty limited. Honestly, I hate the RNG of a randomly decided "fated" role. I wish it had triggers. If so, it could have easily been applied to more than werewolf on werewolf.
So much for vampire Juliet and werewolf Romeo.
I mean, it is triggered by you clicking on another werewolf and choosing the "flirt" interaction. (per SimGuruMorgan, I think) So it is perfectly possibly to have a "normal" romantic relationship between two occults as long as you don't tell the werewolf to flirt with another werewolf.
Also they did say you could choose to fight it, so I don't think it will be too overwhelming.
(personal aside, I avoid "fated mate" fiction like the plague, so I don't know how this compares to that.)
What about accidental flirting? Is it only player triggered, because Sims do autonomously flirt with each other. Are there safeguards or can they not be allowed to interact with anyone alone?
From what I read, it is only player triggered. The "Fated Mate" unlockable werewolf trait only has a chance to unlock when you, the player, direct your werewolf sim to flirt with another werewolf sim. Autonomous flirting won't trigger it. (or at least shouldn't. If it does, it's a glitch)
