“The game failed to load”

My sims 4 on the EA app for mac keeps saying “The game failed to load. Error Code: 102:20ece5dd:c8dbfb88. It is recommended that you relaunch the game.”

A bit of context: The sim I am playing with was going to his first day of college. I traveled him to Wyvern Hall and it went south. He disappears from the whole game. Odd enough, if I switch to another household I can go back to my original sims household and he will be there and I can play just fine. But If I go back to Wyvern Hall it all happens again.

I have relaunched the sims 4, reinstalled the EA app multiple times, and even deleted the localthumbcache.package file as suggested in other threads.

I have used mods before but have not used them in a very long time. I am not an expert so all help is appreciated!
