A lot of issues with Sims 4

Haven't played Sims since Sims 2 in 2013. Playing the Sims 4 with the free download. I thought this was going to be a fun trip down memory lane, but instead I am facing a lot of issues, which is causing frustration. My first Sim started a fire while cooking her first meal. Every meal since that involved the stove has caught fire. Next Sim I had be a social butterfly and I had her go to a night club with a friend. When she came home she was so tired but could not stay in bed. She kept passing out in random places, but every time I had her go to sleep in her bed, she would wake up shortly after without feeling rested. This game is not very fun when I keep having to start over due to these un-play-able glitches. Is there any way around these issues or should I just give up on this platform? - Thanks
