This is anecdotal, but I find that my Sims paint nothing but masterpieces all day long until they reach that part of the aspiration and then....
...nothing. LOL
I do things like "Okay, do some brain-boosting yoga, then cloudgaze, then take a thoughtful shower.... and then paint." I think it helps? but don't have real evidence to back that up.

@xochiquetzl_xkvn Naw, that's too much work. I prefer static buffs around. Like in the painting career, you get a special easel that grants an Inspired buff. There's also postcards, lamps from San MyShuno street sales, even paintings if you have a high-level painter. I just leave these things around and "turn them on" when I need a high inspired buff.
I do that all over the house. Media station? Postcard for inspired recordings, ice bucket for flirty, dolls for Playful, lamps for focused... Just turn on the one I want when recording. Always have a postcard in the kitchen to boost cooking...

@PsychotpsYeah, if they're actually in the career I use the career objects. And @aodoherty I LOVE the Jungle Adventure berries! I also play a lot of gardeners and Inspired cowplant milk also rocks.
BUT, if you don't have any of those? Yoga/cloudgazing/thoughtful showers are the bomb.
