Here's an open bug thread about plants reverting to dirt piles that may have some useful info for you.
I've had this issue myself linked to Eco Living, Seasons and Cottage Living and one thing that sometimes works for me is to speed up the season changes if you have Seasons installed. I also find that sometimes it affects different lots in different ways so for a time it affected Granite Falls pretty badly and some of my CoL lots in particular.
As for the Money Tree issue I've not seen that before but are you on PC with mods installed by any chance? Because if so it could be mod related and this thread will have advice for you unless a PC player picks this up as they know their stuff!

- @Jennsskylar04 what I'd do is start a bug report for the Money Tree issue as that sounds very strange indeed. I've looked around but not seen it mentioned. It would help if you could get a shot of it and add that to the bug report to show the team.
