They used to have that in previous versions. Like the sims 3 sims could carry them around and stuff but it was buggy and sometimes sims would put them in weird places and just leave them. Maybe they're trying to iron out quirks like that before they make babies able to be in the open world again. Maybe sims 5???

@boom_5783Ugh no. Bassinet bound is what babies currently are. The ability to take the baby with you at least around the house to sit on a rockingchair or give it a bath or whatever would be cool. Maybe even give the baby a tour pointing out stuff around the house and talking about it for a steady growth of parenting and friendship instead of just all short actions and then boom...back in the bassinet.
