There obviously is/are mod(s) for making better, more clear, paintings from reference in-game. I have downloaded many from people in the gallery. Surprisingly clear without that scratchy blobbiness ...

Ok. Spent all night trying to figure out why it wasn't working.
After a sleep, figured it out today.
Wrong mod, heh!

And yes you do need XML Injector v4:
