Try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
So, you helped me but not in the intended way 😅
When I did what you said, I noticed there was no new Sims 4 folder after I relaunched the game, and that's when something clicked in my mind : the game was still showing me my mods ! What happened is that I reinstalled the game on an external hard drive a few months ago, but for some reason it's still using the one on my computer, from which I hadn't removed the mods since I didn't think the game still used it. Now I removed the mods from this folder, and the glitch is actually fixed, meaning that the issue was in fact coming from a mod.
Now it raises a new question : why is it still using the old Sims 4 folder that's on my computer since the game is installed on an external hard drive? x)
Anyway thank you very much, now at least I know I simply have to check which mod is the culprit !
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@BerliozToulouse Installing the game on an external folder just runs the game from there. The user files are still by default the internal drive.
If you want to use an external drive for your user folder, you need to follow these instructions to redirect via sym link:https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/02/moving-windows-documents-folder-to-external-drive-via-symbolic-link.html
