Burned appliances

I own a small business in the Sims 3 and keep stoves and refrigerators in stock and for some reason when I restock them they turn black like they have been burned or struck by lightning. they are indoors and there's no other signs of damage not even to appliances around them, can anybody help me? Why is this happening? I'm loosing so much money please help
