Can’t play in live mode after going through realm of magic portal

This has happened twice now, I make a household (with CC/mods) and play for a little bit and then I try turning one of my sims into a spellcaster and after I do and I enter the portal to return home ...

I just did it and it fixed the issue but I really don’t want to play without my CC/mods. How do I find the conflicting file?
