can't edit sim ( and cheats are on and working)

Are you trying to change their features (face or body structure etc) or just their wardrobe?
With your Sim already in game you can take them to a mirror or dresser and select "change sim".
The entire household will then appear in CAS without a cheat.
You can change everything except facial features and relationships to others in that household.
You mentioned using a laptop so I would guess you are on either PC or Mac.
Do you have any mods or cc in your game?

I can confirm the cheat to "modify in CAS" does work with testingcheats on because I just did it in my game.

@arianator3942, in addition to what @EuphorialQueen mentioned, the "kaching" cheat does not need the "testingcheats true" cheat to be able to work. There are a handful of cheats that don't need it at all, and kaching is one of them, so kaching is not a good way to see if you have properly entered the testing cheats cheat. 😉

thank you for the advise. I actually found another way, however I did take this advise and put it to use to try to fix another cheat related issue. Raising my child's grade to a b so she can be a scout ( without having to rush to get a high enough grade first. Unfortunatly as similar to my previous issue, where it worked before it doesn't seem to work now. I copy and pasted " testingcheats true" then put in the gradeschool promote cheat but it didn't work.

any chance you have any suggestions on that or knowledge of whether the game has a glitch?

Likewise, both testingcheats off and testingcheats false will also work! 😇

Copy / paste sometimes leaves a space at the beginning of the cheat.
Cheats that do work for promoting children:
careers.promote gradeschool
careers.promote highschool
careers.promote Scout

Note: The game allows entry into Scouting immediately after they become a child.
