Can't figure out how to download/install custom content

I've watched several tutorials on this topic and still can't get it to work. I've downloaded a .zip file, I try to open it with WinZip to extract the other files and it won't work. It keeps trying to ...

I have followed the instructions. But when I try to open a .zip file (I do know the difference) it pops up saying it can't be open. I got some .package files to work even though they are super glitchy once in the game.
