Another thing you can do is look at all your CC with Sims4Studio. It gives you a window that shows the item when you click on the file name. If you have a lot of CC, it can take a long time to go through everything you have but I think that it's worth it in the end. It can also help you identify broken CC and sort things. One thing to keep in mind is that some items like default replacements and objects embedded in mods will not show up in the window sometimes so before you remove something, you need to test those files to make sure you want to pull them out.
But if you know what an item looks like, you should be able to find it fairly easily. It just might take a bit of time if you have a lot.
