cant interact with the baby my sim gave birth too

so for some reason my sims cant interact with the baby they gave birth too. they cant feed it or do any baby care at all. the only thing they can do is read a baby book. please help me what should i ...

@MN_Girl91 Does your Sim have the beloved trait ? Do you have two parents and both can't interact ?
