I just created a new character, and when I put her on a plot, I tried to click on the household to play her, but after the loading screen, I was send to the residential worlds options. I can't play a single household, or I'll be sent to the pick a world option.
Rename your mods folder and delete the localthumbcache. if it works make a new mods folder and gradually move your mods back a few at a time.
Are you a mod user? The August 2025 patch (1.117) broke many, many script mods, with this being the symptom, and these are still the ones most likely to be your problem. Use the Previously Broken mods and CC for many (not all!) mods that have no updates. Use “Updated” in the Broken/Updated Mods list for patch 1.117 as a second starting point, but note many were updated for patch 1.118 and/or are not yet cleared in the current list (for links, see Mod & CC Issues: START HERE).
I’m moving you into the pinned thread for this issue. Please do reply with an @ and let me know if you don’t have any mods, if renaming the Mods folder still blocks loading ALL households (not just previously played ones), or you are actually on console.
