I am sorry that you lost your folder of cc and mods. :( Are there no files left in your mods/cc folder? Updating shouldn't have caused them to be deleted. Other simmers though have posted at other times that the same issue occurred to them as well when updating. Check to see if the cc/mods files are in your recycling bin.
Next time you update, move your mods folder to another section of the computer or to an external drive before updating.
