Compress files?

I’m not sure if this is the right place for this discussion but I have seen people say they compress their mods to improve gameplay. Currently I have all my Cc and mods in multiple folders in the mods sections. Sometimes my game freezes and says not responding at top of screen where it says sims 4. Will compressing my mods folders fix this? And how do I do that? Thanks for any help
