Computer not working

Yesterday, I downloaded the ACR mod from the archive.org site. Straight after downloading it, I put it into my mods folder like I always did. But afterwards, Sims4 didn‘t open anymore, so I deleted the mod again. I re-started Sims but it needed even longer to open than before (maybe around 15 minutes?) and when I started my gameplay, nothing worked properly - my game was unbelievable slow, so I closed the game again (it needed around 5 minutes again to do so) and then my whole computer lagged and was so slow that I couldn‘t do anything anymore. I couldn‘t even shut down because the curser wouldn‘t move in 10 minutes. Google didn‘t open anymore, literally nothing worked! Today I tried again but nothing - my computer is completely broken after the download ☹️ I needed to reset it to default and I really hope it will help!! before that, I really tried everything I could find to help it but nothing worked out for me.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

I actually never had problems with mods before! When I did, I just deleted the mod and it worked out, but this time the mod ruined my whole computer ☹️

  • @mrsSevilla  Are you referring to the ACR mod for Sims 2?  That would absolutely not work with Sims 4, obviously, although it hopefully didn't corrupt your game permanently.

Anyway, at this point, it's a good idea to try to rebuild your user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you see the same issues in the new save, stop here and repair the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Then test again, and if another new save still runs slowly (or the game doesn't load at all), please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

If the new save is fine, you can start transferring your content from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.  Test your mods first, in batches, to make sure you don't have any other problem files; if you run into the same issue as before, you'll need to split the last batch of mods you added and retest until you find the culprit.  Leave your saves for last.  As for the rest of the files, you probably only want to preserve the contents of the Screenshots and Tray folders, the latter of which contains your saved households and builds.  In case you're curious what the other files are, here's a thorough description:
