Custom House Not Loading

Question

After the July patch I loaded into a new game and spent all day building and decorating a new house. I saved multiple times throughout. When I was finished I saved again and created a new household and moved it into a new house. When I came back to the house I'd just finished, it shows the correct house in the neighborhood, but when I click into it it takes me to the old base game house with none of my edits. My Sim also auto-ages up even though not nearly enough time had passed in that save for her to be close to her birthday. I am using custom content and mods.

If you edit something small again, then save, does it happen again ?

I went ahead and changed the wallpaper on one of the walls and added a custom plant, saved it, and left the house. When I came back it was all still there.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear - I did the small edit to the base house and it saved fine, but the hours of work I did is still eluding me. Again, the correct house shows up when looking at the neighborhood, so I know it saved, but entering the house either via play mode or build mode makes all of it go away. I'm just hoping I didn't permanently lose all that work.
