Custom music will not play

Hello, my custom music will not play in sims 4. I looked all online and no one has found a solution and i can see EA has yet to resolve this still.

  • Hello , yes I tried many mp3 converters and it didn’t work but I found another converter and it worked in my game finally 🙂

  • Not sure what the problem is … I converted the music into mp3 files and I placed them in a

genre folder under my custom music folder for sims 4 and once in my game I go to game options and I check the custom music I want to play in the game but when I try playing it their is no sounds just music notes coming out but when I play the regular sim music it plays just fine . What am I doing wrong ?????? Please help this is beyond frustrating

@badred24   Hi!  I've never added custom music before so I just tested it.  I downloaded a Pop song from Amazon and copied / pasted it into my Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Custom Music / Pop folder.  Once I was back in the game, I went into the Game Options menu, selected Music, selected Pop and found my new song at the bottom of the list.  I then unchecked all the in-game Pop songs so that only my new song was checked.  I applied the settings and when I had my sim listen to the Pop station, the song played just fine.

Did you follow similar steps?  If not, could you elaborate more on the steps you took to add the song?

  • @LexiiBH   Hello!  I just replied to another post about this ...

EDIT: In the other post, the player mentioned they needed to find an appropriate MP3 converter.  I wonder if your music is properly formatted.  The files need to be in the MP3 format for sure.

@LexiiBH   Were you able to find an audio file converter?  I do hope that @badred24 will be able to share which one they used.  In the meantime, I think you might try running an internet search something like "best audio file converters to MP3" and test some of them based on the reviews.

  • In my game I have a lot of Custom Music. Everything works fine.

For Converting the Music I used different tools over the time. Some Music is converted with Windows Media Player 11, and some files Converted with CDex. It doesn't need a special tool. A MP3 from one tool, is the same like a MP3 from another Tool.

Every File is MPEG1 Layer 3. Some with 44100Hz and 320kbit/s, and some with less kbit/s. Mono, Stereo, Reversed Stereo or Joint Stereo does not matter in the Game.

Every MP3 file in my system is edited with MP3Gain, so every file have same Gain (same Volume for every mp3 file, this only takes a few minutes for a complete music album).

What converter was it if you don’t mind sharing??? I wasted hours downloading and converting music and none of it worked. I’m extremely frustrated at this point
