Deleted Households
My game keeps deleting households. I will come out of a household, to see that half of my sims have been deleted. The whole household has been wiped, with no trace. I recovered an earlier saved game ...

It sounds like the game is culling households because you've exceeded the sim count limit. The default limit out of the box is 80 sims but you can have way more if you want to and your hardware can handle it.
To change or remove the limit, go to Manage Households and look at the bottom right of the My Households tab. You should see 2 numbers. One of the number of sims you have in the game and the other is a dropdown with choices or 80, 150 or unlimited. If you are set on 80, change it to one of the other 2 options. If you set it on Unlimited, you will not have to worry about sims being culled again.

Hi, thanks for your help. I’m not sure it is this because it’s already on unlimited and I’ll have I.e. 70 sims overall then suddenly it’ll be down to 40. Keeps happening ☹️
HI @emilybear28 Are you playing on PC and with content in your Mods folder? If so, can you please test without? Exit Sims 4 then drag your Mods folder to your desktop. Then delete the file called localthumbcache from Document > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If you think you might accidentally forget to exit without saving after testing, copy your Saves folder to your desktop too, to back it up. Now open Sims 4 and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, you can start the process of figuring out what from your Mods folder was causing it.
Thanks for this! I think you’re right. Playing on Mac but I do have mods. Would it work if I just deleted all my mods?
