I moved a sim into another sim's household and I want to turn them from roommates to mother and child but I either get a "cannot edit pre-existing sim or the only options I get are "sister/brother, roommate or wife/husband." I changed their ages and the cheats are on both testingcheats true and cas.fulleditmode but it still doesn't give me the parent/child option.

I know I'm a little late, but I had this problem when I made a brother and sister and forgot to edit their relationship before placing them in game. I fixed it by going into manage world and editing their household. I added another sim and set it's relationship to their mother and it automatically changed their relationship and then I deleted the sim. So I assume if you wish to do it with a mother/child for example, make another child, set them as siblings, then delete the unwanted one.

@beeke404 These relations must be set before the game starts and later unless you have MCCC mod, nothing can be done.But this can be solved differently.You can save all these sims to the library. Enter with these sims in the CAS outside the game and set these relationships between them.Switch to a random family in order to save the game and remove the family you played from the game. Then enter this family from the library again into this game on an empty plot. They lose all friends and money but their careers and skills will stay. You can add money to them with the motherlode code and put them in their old home.I don't work for EA

relationship.add_bit <yoursimID> <targetsimID> <relationshipBit>So, if your grandchild ID is 123 and grandparent is 789, it would look like this:relationship.add_bit 123 789 family_grandchildThat being said, I have no idea if this cheat works anymore. A lot of cheats (like the skill cheats) were taken out of the game a few months ago. There is a mod out there that will re-enable them. Here is information I took from someone else. I would credit the original author, but I don't remember who it was. This has worked for me...****************************1. Open the cheat console ctrl + shift + c and type: "testingcheats on"2. Now type: "sims.get_sim_id_by_name yoursimfirstname yoursimlastname" (The desired sim must be selected)-It will pop up a large number. This is very important. This number is your Sim ID3. Type again the same thing in step 2 but now with your desired target sim name.-I mean, if you want to change your (example) son and mom relationship, you need to type the text from step 2 from both of themYou should now have 2 large numbers in the console. (SimID)---MAKE SURE TESTINGCHEATS IS ENABLED, AGAIN! OTHERWISE THE NEXT STEPS WON'T WORK----In step 4 you will write your desired relationshipBit. (Obviously I mean, don't write the word "relationshipbit") you need to overwrite the word with These relationshipBits:*family_husband_wife*family_son_daughter*family_parent*family_grandparent*family_grandchild4. In the console, type: "relationship.add_bit yoursimID targetsimID relationshipbit"-YoursimID is the large number you got from your selected sims. You need to write the whole numbers.-relationshipbit DOESN'T NEED TO BE WRITTEN, it needs to be one of the 5 commands I wrote in step 4.If it doesn't work, it's because for some reason, Testingcheats disabled automatically (It happenned to me several times) Write it again and make sure its enabled again, and repeat the step 4.******************Good luck!

@beeke404 Here’s another way to try1.Testingcheats true 2. Cas.fulleditmode 3. Shift click sim to modify in cas 4. Save the household to your library 5. Click “X” in cas should say reset household. If it does click reset household And go into your library and click the household you wanted to change the relationships for.If you WEREN’T able to reset the household make sure to still save the household to your library then go into the gallery switch out the household for another one then click replace. After that go back into the library click the household you wanted to change the relationship for and click replace and then try changing the relationship status.

@nadifb Manual changes of relationshipbits and other cheat commands like that have always been hit-or-miss for me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The easiest way to make those changes would be to install the UICheats mod and just use the relationshipbits cheat menu. It's always worked for me that way.

Doesn't work if your sim is too stubborn...... Mine has no mother stated in his family tree yet won't give any other option in drop down panel than sister, wife, or household member.... With testing cheats on .....

@here4thesimzWell, I did notice a few quirks with how it works...

If you want to make sim1 the mother of sim2, and the two sims already have ANY kind of relationship, you can't set anything in CAS. It will reject it. You need to completely DELETE the existing relationship so they don't even know each other. CAS will then allow it. (You can always use cheats to set it back to where it was)

For some reason, if sim1 and sim2 are both young adults, you can't set sim1 to be the parent of sim2. Try setting sim2 to be a child or teen in CAS, it should then allow "mother". You can then age them up later.

I can not edit any current sims in the game. This is new. I’ve disabled mods,and removed mods and still doesn’t work. Personality traits, change relationship, change for teen to adult or even puppy to adult dog all say can not edit pre existing sim. Pics attached

@skipyjones For existing Sims you need a cheat to change these things. Does the fulledit mode cheat not work for you anymore ?

I completely forgot I was running a edit mode always in mod. That mod is not working. The casfulledit ode cheat almost works completely . The only thing I still can’t edit is household relationships
