Esc button not working

Hello, my esc button and the area where i can exit game randomly stops working which is irritating cause it causes me to have to restart my whole laptop just to close the game, any help?

    @Daisytsims4freak  If you use any mods or custom content at all, please try playing without it, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop.  You don't need to save your progress.

    Please also try playing in windowed mode.  The setting is with the other graphics options.

    If you see the problem again, please post a screenshot of the weirdness you're describing.  You can use Windows key-shift-S to capture that portion of the screen.

    @puzzlezaddict No it doesnt freeze just all of my buttons in game become unpressable apart from sims and things on my plot (also idk what a dxdiag is mb) i think it may be something to do with like all of my buttons "pictures" that i click to acess are all glitched out and im not sure why this happened after the most recent update.

    @Daisytsims4freakYeah, it stopped working for me too. here's a couple ways you can sort of do this.
    - Go to main menu > just press one of their little links at the bottom (either the update or survey one doesn't matter) > it'll ask if you want to visit external browser and you click yes (it'll just escort you to the internet).
    - Or you'll have to exit manually by pressing exit to main menu > then pressing exit game.
    They probably removed that feature. (to use esc to leave)

    If that doesn't help, I recommend: Entering the main menu in sims 4 > going to the sims 4 settings > changing fullscreen to a different screen that's much smaller and displays your controls for an easy or faster exit.

    Sorry for the late reply, been busy but i played with no mods and everything was perfectly fine but once added back everything became weird again
