Family Ties erased, separate households no longer know each other

So I have a family that is entering it's 3rd generation, now separated into 4 different households. I saved them all to my gallery because I had to completely wipe my laptop due to technical issues. I'm now playing with them in a new game after reinstalling the Sims. I just realized that they no longer know one another, almost like all memories outside of their literal household are gone. Is there any way to get this back?

  • Do you have any backups of the original save files? Unfortunately the gallery does not preserve relationships outside the household.

I was worried that was the case. Unfortunately using the gallery was my backup. Thanks for your response!

@MLeahV   Hi!  If you don't mind using a mod, the MC Command Center mod has an option to add relationships with any other sim.  We're not allowed to share links to mods, so you'll need to search for it.  There is a free public version on Deaderpool's Patreon page, or you might consider becoming a patron.  Although, before using any mod, I always suggest testing it in a save you don't care about first to make sure it doesn't make any unwanted changes to your game.  You could use the option on your current save to Save As, to create a save for testing without making changes to your current save.

If you don't normally use mods and would prefer not to have this one.  Then I suggest only installing the main mc.cmd.center package and script files.  That will give you the relationships option.  You could load it just long enough to update the relationships, save the game and then remove the files from your mods folder. There are other modules like mc.cheats (giving access to extra cheats like career, skills, etc.) and mc.population (gives options for how many NPCs are generated, how they move in/out, form relationships while unplayed etc.).  You don't need any of these extra modules though if all you want to do is change your sims' relationships.

Click the spoiler below for some steps to take if you decide to try the MCCC mod.

    1. Download the mod from Patreon, unzip the files and place them in your Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods folder.

    2. Open the game and load the game save you want to test.

    3. Have one of your households travel around to visit the other households with whom you want to re-add relationships.

    4. On each lot, click each sim one at a time, then click the MC Command Center menu option.

    5. Click on the Relationships menu option.

    6. Click the Add Relationship menu option.

    7. Choose the sim that you're adding the relationship to (clicking the household / house icon tab will make it easier to find them)

    8. Choose the relationship you want to add

Let me know if you have any problems or questions. :-)
