I have the same problem now. Only one household doesn't load, after the Crystal Creations update. Other households load well. I can get to build mode and CAS. I can hear the sound of game loading, but loading screen doesn't go away.
These things I have tried, and yet didn't work:
-delete all mods and cc
-clear cache
-repair game
-uninstall and reinstall the sims 4
-save as new save.
I think something's wrong with one of the sims, because after I downloaded the household to gallery and placed in a new save, it didn't load. (I tried it with one sim at a time) Yet, I can't figure out which sim, because it doesn't load through with any sim of the household.

hi! It's been quite a while since my issue has been resolved, but if I am not mistaken it was one particular piece of cc that caused the issue.
