Fixing Custom Trait

I recently downloaded the Prototype AI trait ( http://modthesims.info/d/550622 ), but have found that my Sim with this trait still has her Hunger, Hygiene, and Bladder motives (which are not supposed to decay), as well as her Energy motive (which is supposed to decay more slowly) decay at the normal rate. The trait itself is installed properly and working besides this problem, as trait-related custom buffs do appear.

I initially suspected this was due to a mod conflict, but removing all other mods and CC has not fixed this problem, so it seems the problem must be with the trait itself. I opened up the trait in S4PE to see if I could figure out what is causing this issue, and I found this section of code in one of the XML files, which appears to be relevant:

http://pastebin.com/D3w5MKa5

This is the full code of the relevant XML file:

http://pastebin.com/qXfnbtSD

I don't know the ID keys for individual motives, and I have very little experience working with XML (none whatsoever when it comes to TS4), so I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what the issue is here and how to fix it. ^_^
  • Near the top in that file, try changing these two lines:

    ...so they read like this:

And see if this doesn't fix it. A few patches back this alteration was made in all Buff.xml files and all of the Custom Traits mods were broken and needed to be remade afterwards.

Thank you so much! I had a feeling it was that patch that broke it. There's another issue now, though... I've never actually worked with S4PE before. I've used NRaas Packer for TS3 and assumed S4PE would work like that, allowing me to view AND edit the XML files. Now I see that this isn't the case. I can't figure out how to edit, nor can I find a tutorial or anything that explains that. So... how do I actually edit the XML file?
  • When viewing the mod in s4pe, right-click on the XML file and take Export-->To file and save that XML file. The naming of the file doesn't matter. Open the file in Notepad, edit it and save in Notepad. Now in s4pe, right-click again on the XML file and take Replace, and your new file will be placed there instead of the old one.
  • Why not use Sims4Studio? Making tuning mods is really simple in that tool. It does the extracting and packaging for you and you can even edit the xml in the Studio tool itself
  • @Shimrod101 Thank you! It works now. :)

@IngeJones Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it.
