Font size of pop-ups

Alright, this probably has an easy fix in the settings menu.  The trouble is I don't understand anything about screen resolution and the like.

You know the pop-ups that occur in game, everytime you ride the rocket ship for instance... The font size of those pop-ups is so small.  I am the member of my family without reading glasses and I have to squint a bit to read them.  How my mom's going to when she plays is what worries me.

So, can any of you explain an idiots guide to the settings menu and what I'd need to do to alter this?

We have an average size monitor and all our settings are probably still on the default.  

And I guess, if none of you can, my tip to the developers is to up the font size a tic or two.
