Game completely resetting between saves

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.91.186.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Holiday, Kits, paranormal, nifty knitting, tiny living, my first pet, laundry day, fitness, bowling night, vintage glamour, backyard, romantic garden, movie hangout, cool kitchen, perfect patio, luxury party, werewolves, my wedding stories, dream home decorator, realm of magic, jungle adventures, parenthood, vampires, dine out, spa day, cottage living, eco lifestyle, island living, get famous, seasons, cats and dogs, city living, get to work
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Possibly access my account. Start a new game save on an empty lot and place a house of some kind, save, then exit to main menu. Start a new game, create a sim, and then go to select a lot, you'll see that the one you just created is no longer there.
What happens when the bug occurs? Every time I close the game completely, then open it again.
What do you expect to see? My game saves to actually save and not completely reset the world.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Every time I open my game, any previous households and houses that I previously played with have completely disappeared. When I create a new sim and go to purchase a plot of land or house to move into, it does not show any active households. This started about a month ago when I noticed that my entire game was completely reset and I lost any saves I had. I can access them from "load game" but I have to replace the household every time I want to play. I can create a sim and new house, save, exit to loading screen, create a NEW sim, go to select a plot of land the household I JUST created is completely gone as if it never happened.

This sounds normal to me. New Game means starting over, without any houses, community lots, or households that you added or otherwise changed. This makes the starting conditions the same as any other new game. It also means you will start at 0800 (8 am) on Sunday. The only thing that should change is the season, if you have Seasons and chose a different season.

You don't have to start over to add new Sims. You can Load Game, choose an existing save, then click on an unused house or vacant lot. The large button at the bottom right will let you Create New Household To Move In. There's another button at the top right for Manage Households and you can use that to move existing households. You can even do this right after you finish building, by pressing F1 or going to Manage Worlds instead of going back to the Main Menu.

To summarize, use Load Game if you want to keep the changes you made. Use New Game only when you want everything to go back to the way it started. Hope that helps.

No, my game is completely resetting as if I've never played the game before according to the worlds. Everything in the worlds is completely erased after I leave that current play. They just completely disappear. I can access them again from "load game" but I have to re place the house when I do this.

@n_noodle14 Does your game save when you press save ?

To find out, check the saves folder in documents and see if the date changes when you press save.
  • @n_noodle14 Did you actually load your first save? Because you wrote:

"Start a new game save on an empty lot and place a house of some kind, save, then exit to main menu. Start a new game, create a sim, and then go to select a lot, you'll see that the one you just created is no longer there."

If you want to play in the same world that you created before you have to load the first save. If you create a second game (save) you will start from scratch again.

I understand that if I start a new game, I will not be currently playing on the save I just did. However, the two should be able to exist together. Meaning, if in a new save I have my sim walking around a town, they should be able to see the houses I built in previous saves and interact with the sims from previous saves. However those saves are completely gone from the gameplay UNLESS I go into load game and replace the lot.

  • It doesn't appear that it is. Nothing changed file wise once I saved something in game.

If you want to be playing one family and see the other families and houses as you describe, then you should load the same game instead of starting a new one. Go to Manage Worlds and then from there you can either create a new family or play with one of the ones you have.

Creating a new game will create a separate game from the one(s) with your previously played families and houses.

@n_noodle14 Moving this to game issues as what you describe is intended behavior as others have pointed out.

Different save games have no influence on each other.
