Game Crashing on Launch

I’m currently unable to load The Sims 4, as it crashes on the loading screen before it even gets to the main menu. It was working fine on the night of the 23rd and then when I tried to load it the morning of the 24th, it crashed. I haven’t added any new mods in between it working fine and this but I do play with them normally.

I’ve already tried removing all my mods and repairing the game, which didn’t work. I then moved the Sims 4 folder entirely to force it to regenerate - a method which works for one load and then reverts back to crashing when I try to load the game a second time.

I’m playing on a MacBook Air (Catalina) through Origin and have around 40gb free on my hard drive so not a memory issue. Can anyone help? I can’t keep moving my saves and tray files out and back in every time I want to load the game!

"a method which works for one load and then reverts back to crashing when I try to load the game a second time." Did you create a new save and then try to load that save? Did you add back in one of your previous saves?
  • @Bluebellflora I’ve been adding back in my old save files, mods, and Tray files and they load fine, then when I quit the game a try to load again, it crashes after the first splash screen. After some further testing, I’ve taken out some mods from Ilex that default replaced stuff like coat racks that I’d been building with, and took out the Tray files for any builds I’d used them in - so far the game has been loading fine 🤞
