game fundamentally broken - broken settings and more

my game is really broken. i cannot select a house plot for my sims, i cannot go into the settings and i have to force-close the game using task manager. i am using mods but i haven't had issues until...

Move your mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package in your user folder and test a new save. If everything is ok, check your mods for updates.
