Game is crashing before getting to game save

When I load my game to start it comes up with the Sims for icon and then it just crashes before I get to the part where I can play my saved game. Now I have tried some troubleshooting things such as taking out my mods folder that did not work taking out my last save that did not work but when I took out the whole Sims 4 folder that worked, but I would actually really love to play my game with the last save as I’ve worked so hard on it so does anyone have any Other things I can do to get my game back while keeping my save as I have taken out my mod folder already and that still didn’t work. Only taking out the whole sims 4 folder 

I have also updated all mods 

btw I am on a Mac
