"Game Loading In Progress" No Matter Which Savefile

This is definitely from the big Sims 4 update. I thought the recent patch would fix it, but 0 changes so far. For those who are unfamiliar with "game loading in progress" it means you can't travel but most importantly can't save, which makes the game completely unplayable. I do have mods, but I have been keeping everything updated, so I know it is not that. And it is too much circumstantial for this big bug to happen after a huge Sims 4 base game update, it just makes sense. For now, I'll just wait until EA fixes this, hoping it is fixed soon since I would love to just sit down and play Sims 4 for hours and hours on end right about now.

Let me know if you have any questions! I will do my best to reply.

  • @BurntSpicyTofu and @mgsw1995  Please test with no mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.  You don't need to save your progress.

@mgsw1995 Yeahh looks like EA has got their hands full with loads of bugs from this big update and well it's not their first sloppy update with a heaping side of bugs and glitches soo . . .

@puzzlezaddict I did that, it did work actually (and instead of moving the mods folder to the desktop I just disabled mods in the game options instead). whoever, I am a type of person that definitely can't play this game without mods. i did relaunched after with mods and have my same issue with not being able to save. so is this just an EA hates mods thing or what?

@BurntSpicyTofu  Updates always break mods.  That's the price of adding new features and implementing new fixes: the game code changes, and mods that depended on the old code break.  Updates that precede expansion pack releases are especially hard on mods due to all the new code required for the expansion.

At any rate, to find out what's currently broken, you can start here:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/Broken-Obsolete-and-Updated-Sims-4-Mods-1-108-July-23-2024-Game/td-p/13891143

    Ctrl-F is your friend.

For the rest, there's no substitute for testing, and if a given mod is broken and hasn't been updated, you'll need to go without for now.

@puzzlezaddict Huh, okay looks like I might just have to wait or play a new file without mods for now. I've been playing for about a year and no update in that time has done this. Maybe once before but it only stayed for like a day. To be fair, this is a big update a long time coming, so that could definitely be part of it.
