Game won't launch overnight

I know the newest patch has messed up a lot, but I have updated every broken mods and played a lot since then. The last time I played was August 5th, and everything worked fine. The day after, I updated the EA app. I reached the homescreen and closed the pop-up advertisement, but then the screen froze. I shut the game down and tried to start it again. But this time, I couldn't even reach the homescreen. It went through the logo start and then the plumbob start, but when the plumbob disappears and the homescreen is about to show, it gets stuck. I tried again the next day, and this time I repaired the game, deleted localthumbcache, cleared the EA app cache, closed EA background services, and went offline, but nothing worked. I tried playing without my mods, and it worked. But HOW? How in the world can a mod go broken overnight when no new patch is out? I had already updated the mods that broke with the latest patch.

I can't do 50/50 method since I have A LOT of mods.

    @ClaraGreta Perhaps you use something like OneDrive, that might have messed with your folder contents? See https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/td-p/12475370 for making it stop doing that.

    If that's what happened, a run throuhg Broken/Updated Mods & CC to re-remove and re-update mods might be enough for your issue.


    Otherwise, 50-50 is the most efficient method because you can start with actually half your mods. Just be sure to leave current versions of things like XML Injector and other core/injector mods in while you test.

    I am having the same issue, It just gets stuck. I have deleted all script mods and done the 50/50 method. (My mods folder has three folders: Gameplay, CAS, Build and Buy) I have removed all three in succession and any combination of two. I'm so lost. I stopped syncing to onedrive a while ago and this just started two days ago; Can't even get into the game to use betterexceptions.

    @tkimsey79 Please do a "vanilla" test: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.

    @tkimsey79 If it worked, you can use Broken/Updated Mods & CC to figure out what to go ahead and move back ("cleared"), what to get new versions of instead ("updated"), and what to not move back for sure, then do the rest in batches, testing between batches. This post has tips on what to check to make sure you're testing batches right, like having all the files a mod needs: 50-50
