Get famous fame points problem

I haven't played this game in a while and only downloaded it yesterday and finally got it in a working condition today. It's still laggy, but that isn't my problem.

My sim was getting some decent fame, but after some time when I checked the fame level it went to the bottom with the already collected points going red. And now my sim won't get any fame points at all. I tried the cheat too and that wasn't working either. I am not running any mods, it's a completely fresh install.

I tried 'reseting' it by quitting the spotligh then returning to spotlight, but that didn't work either.

Got my game going now and checked the options.  Get Famous has an option to opt out of the fame system.  It only affects the star side of fame and you are correct, leaving it unchecked means sims will gain fame for the stars. That's the way I have it set so all my sims will be in the fame system unless I have them opt out of the spotlight individually.  So, if you are not gaining any fame and the sims do have it enabled by remaining in the spotlight, then it's something else going on.

It does take a lot of things to get the fame up enough to gain the star levels and it's slow going.  You have to do a lot of things and keep doing them to keep the meter going up.  If you don't, then the meter goes the other way until you lose it all.  The only thing that keeps it from going down is earning the Unstoppable Fame reward trait from completing the World Famous Celebrity aspiration.  All the things that you can do to gain fame are marked by (fame +) when you click on objects (like an easel, computer, rocket ship, etc.) or do socials with other sims.  Plus being the Actor career and completing gigs also gives fame.  Same with the Meet and Greet parties.  Pretty much everything you do working towards completing the two GF aspirations will give you fame.  And keeping the left side fame meter in the green or red and maxing it helps a lot too depending on whether you want a good or bad reputation.   The higher the better on either side of the meter seems to fame to gain faster.  Neutral or near the middle seems to be slower.   You probably already know all that, but I mention it just in case you don't.

If you're doing all that, and your sim is not gaining fame, then here's a couple of things I thought of for you to try.

Try putting your sim in the Actor career and see if they start to gain fame.  That career seems to gain fame towards the stars faster than any other.

Switching careers to those that include daily tasks and actions that gain fame like a painter or writer will probably help you gain fame faster.  Some careers don't have things like that connected to them so are harder to gain fame with.

While I have no idea if this will work for fame, moving the sim to a new lot does seem to fix some weirdness with sims sometimes.  If it does, you could move them back to their original lot later after you are sure that they are gaining fame.  It should continue to work after that.  Just traveling away from the home lot and back sometimes seems to fix things with sims at times as well so you can try that too.

If none of that works, then you might want to try repairing the game.  Even though it's a new install, there's no guarantee that it might not need a repair.  Things do happen during downloads and installs that will cause problems so you never know.

    Hope this helps.

Are you talking about the fame you need to gain the stars on the right of the panel or the fame meter on the left?  Quitting the spotlight only affects the stars, not the fame in the fame meter.  Since you mentioned points, that's the star fame.

One thing it could be is your game settings.  Since it is a new install, it will be on the default settings but if you played before, you might have changed the settings for how you play.  The settings are in Gameplay Options.  Look for the option for the packs and find the panel for Get Famous.  I don't have my game going atm and don't remember exactly what all of them are, but you might want to check to see what those settings are and adjust them if needed.  It does sound like you've got something turned off.  If everything is ok, then something else might be going on.  If that doesn't fix it for you, come back and we'll go from there.

    Hope this helps.

I meant that yes. The fame needed for the stars. Sorry, I just didn't get too familiar with most stuff in this pack and all the stuff named 'fame' tripped me off for a sec.

The option for the out of the spotlight is ticked off, so that should mean sims should get fame. I also tried with a brand new sim and it wasn't getting any either.

Okie, stuff have happened. I repaired my game since that seemed to be the fastest one on the list. It seemed to fix it. Now the cheats work and I can see the bar crawling up. Thanks for the help, I'll save your last response for the future since it seems to have a lot of great information too.
