Having Trouble Recruiting Sims in Batuu!!

I'm currently in the middle of playing the Scoundrel LifeTime Aspiration on Batuu. I'm on a mission where I need to recruit folks to help with a heist on Canto Bite, but for some reason, I can't recruit anyone. I have been asking all of the scoundrels I am maxed friendship/relationships with and they keep giving me the same answer "Ha, I hardly know you, thanks for the good laugh." or "I wouldn't be caught dead on a ship with you, try someone else." When we're full friends and my sim's charisma is maxed out. I am beyond frustrated at this point because I have been at this part of the mission for almost an hour just getting the same response over and over again.

Is there anything I can do to further increase my chances or do I just keep asking the same sims over and over again until the RNG allows me to successfully recruit someone?
