Homework not working

Question

My apologies if this question has an answer already but I can't seem to find it. Starting just now (was working in the morning) my sims can't do their homework. The only option is to put it in their inventory. I made sure my teen was doing high school homework and my child was doing grade school homework, but no matter where i moved it they couldn't do anything with it except put it in their inventory. I even tried deleted the homework and buying new ones from the bookshelf but they still couldn't do anything with it. Help would be&nbsp;appreciated!!&nbsp;

The teen has actually but the child I have still has to do homework. For teh teen it says homework complete, but for the child it says homework not started.&nbsp;

@Twqlight I think I tried to sell it and buy another one, but if I remember right it only started working once they went back to school and came back home. Sorry if you have tried this already and this is not much help.
