Household Disappeared

Hello. I was playing my Sims household normally and decided I wanted to change something about my Sim, so I saved, enabled cheats and then did cas.fulleditmode on. I then went to modify my Sim in CAS, and when it got into the editing interface, it was a whole new Sim with no household. I then exited and tried reloading the save, but my household is just gone. I tried recovering from an earlier save, and it's gone in the recovered save as well. I can't find my household in my list of played households either. Does anyone know what's going on and if I can recover them? In case it's relevant, I do see my household as the icon for the save, but they don't exist when I try playing it...

    I've a similar thing happen twice in the last few months.  Both times, I had had a Last Exception (LE) while I was playing.  Both times, I was playing a household in an apartment.

    The first time, I did not find out that the household was missing until the next IRL day when I started the game to play again.  I had no indication that anything was wrong the night before when I saved and quit for the night but the next day, that household was just gone.  I knew I had had an LE while I was playing from the MCCC wall notice that it gives me whenever one happens but never had anything like this happen before so as usual, I just ignored it and kept playing.  When I opened the save the next day, it showed another household in another world as the last played which I thought a bit odd but when I went to the one that I had been playing and the household icon had no icon and the only option was for the lot was to enter in build.  When I checked in Manage Households, the household was not there.   I got lucky that time, as I was able to recover the household but it was the last version of the save, the earliest one of the 5.  The household was gone in the other four versions of the save.  It took me a while to put the pieces together and figure out what happened.  Since I use MCCC, I get a wall notice whenever an LE occurs so I know when one happens. So I was able to recover the save.  Once I had a usable save, I was able to replicate what happened again several times and narrow it down to the LE.  It took me nearly half a IRL day to narrow it down and several attempts to avoid the circumstances that caused the LE but in the end I was able to find a way and keep my long term save going.

    Since then, whenever I get an LE, I do an immediate Save As to create a new save.  Then play on with that save.  It happened again when I was playing another household in a different apartment.  Then I went to Manage Worlds to check if the household was still there.  It wasn't so I reloaded the earlier save and was able to narrow it down again and avoid it.   The LE was similar but not quite the same.  This time, I was able to catch it much quicker so I didn't lose much play that time.

    I haven't had it happen again though.  It only happened in those 2 apartments.  The first one was in a dorm in UBrite (I changed them to apartments from University Housing) and the other time it was in one on the Zen View apartments in San Myshuno.

    Does this sound like what happened to you?  As I said, I was able to recover the save, but it was close.  Of the 5 versions of the save, only the last one was still good and I was able to save that household.  So you need check all the versions of the save to make sure.  In my case, I also use MCCC's autosave and those were affected too.  So out of 10 versions of the save, I had one good one.  So if you use MCCC with the feature, check those too.

    Hope this helps.

  • Yes, I am using MCCC, the apartment, and had an exception occur at some point! Thanks for your help! I will remember to do your save trick next time it happens. I was luckily able to find a save about 1.5 hours before I stopped playing that works, so I didn't lose that much progress. Thanks!

    I'm experiencing this same issue. However I'm not getting an LE during gameplay, it's happening right upon loading so the only thing popping up is a UI exception. I have checked my UI mods though and don't believe they are the issue. Was your problem linked directly to a mod? Being 2 years ago, I'm sure you didn't remember which mods. I'm just lost, especially without the LE report and you know.. the 50/50 method is horrendous.

    @mershamia252 It's very unlikely that the cause two years ago is the cause now. Have you tested without mods/CC? Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.

    @mershamia252

    As @luthienrising says, it's probably not the same issue that caused my problem.  In fact, after those 2 times, it hasn't happened again. I never did figure out what caused it either.

    There appears to be a current issue with lots and households disappearing.  Please follow the link below and read all the posts in the thread to see if what you have happening is the same as what others are reporting there.  If it is, then add a post for your issues.
