Huge eyes glitch

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
What is your current game version number? 1.91.205.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions. All game packs. All stuff packs. Desert luxe, blooming rooms, industrial loft, courtyard oasis, bust the dust, coutnry kitchen, throwback fit kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Age up a couple of children to teens.
What happens when the bug occurs? It caused the eyes of one teen to enlarge and prevent the editing of eyes of every teenager in the household. When in CAS and clicking on eyes the eye color section above the eyes doesnt appear.
What do you expect to see? I dont expect to see whats in the screenshot below.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I aged up six children to teens, started to edit one by one and noticed on the first I couldnt access the eyes. Clicking on them showed the eye forms in the list but not the eye colors above the forms. Then I reached the sim in the screenshot. At first I thought its a CC issue but after removing everything from my mod folder I can only assume its a game problem. I repaired my game but that didnt help. I uploaded the sim to my gallery and its still tagged as containing CC even though there is no CC installed.

I can use the randomizer option to randomize the face and get rid of this. But that doesnt help to discover why it happens.

Alternative solution is to use MCCC, use the occult command to turn the sim into a vampire, open CAS, keep normal and vampire form connected, edit eyes of vampire form, leave CAS, might have to switch to normal sim form, use occult command to turn the sim back into normal sim, done.

  • @Zasz_Zerg Does it happen when you age them up on a vanilla game ? Did you test new Sims on a vanilla game or only Sims you had on a modded game before ?

As I understand you removed your mods/cc after it was already broken ?

I still have the savegame from right before aging them up. Its possible to test.

No, I didnt test on new sims.

Yes, I removed everything, a few folders at a time until nothing was left. Then applied the usual stuff.

I used tray importer to check for CC but in the end nothing was left or the tool couldnt detect it. A dev can download the sim from my gallery where the bug is still present.

@Zasz_Zerg Could you test a new Sim. That would be helpful to see if it's a vanilla or a cc issue.

@Zasz_Zerg Start a new save with no mods/cc added (best if you do it on a new folder). Then create some children in it and age those up to see if you have the same issue.

I want just to say, if another player encounter this *problem* a trigger is default CC-Eye replacement or CC-Eyes which are not disabled for randoms (Some folks think eyelashes CC trigger it too). Its very rare to have this *problem* and the fix is easy. I never read from a vanilla/Non-CC player which had this problem.

@Zasz_Zerg I came across this post while searching for help with the same problem in my game. After some troubleshooting, I traced it to Luumia's eye shine remover. This is probably too late to be helpful, but I wanted to add to the thread to let folks know in case they might be using that same CC and also having the buggy eyeball issue.

@3ll1m Hi! Have you managed to fix it? I have the same problem and tried everything but nothing seems to work. It really has to do with Luumia's mod? I tried deleting all the eye related mods, repaired the game, starting a new save, but some random sims still have this popped out eyes and I still can't change the color in CAS, I can randomize them but only the shape, the color is always brown.

@franpanxop It sounds like you still have broken CC. Start with a fresh Mods folder: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.

If that's working, add your mods back in gradually and keep testing.

If you ever ran a batch fix on eyes, make sure to redownload default replacements.
