Okay so I was using a continue, not the load menu. I made a new save file and it allowed me to play, I went to the same family from the main menu after restarting the game and it loaded up.
I went to the load menu and went back to the family I was playing pre-infinite loading screen; I was able to load into it!
As of now I am able to play the game!
