I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but over at MTS Coolspear1 has an insect spawner that is easy to use although if you collect the insect it won't spawn again and needs to be replaced but they are sitting in buy/decor/plants so is easy to replace them, I don't collect them I just think it is nice to have different insects in my garden, if you also download his XML mod with the set called Always Visible they remain permanently. You do need to have OR installed for these...

Common Camp x4 - Lady Bug, Fire Ant, Bees, Jezeble Butterfly
Common Forest x3 - Katydid, Termite, Stink Bugs
Common Hermit x2 - Blue Morpho Butterfly, Luna Moths
Uncommon Forest x3 - Mantis, Locust, Monarch Butterfly
Uncommon Hermit x2 - Jewel Beetle, Waking Stick
Rare Forest x 2 - Dust Sprites, Rainbow Firefly
There rest are single spawners and each one will give you - Mosquito, Firefly, Dragonfly, Rainbow Firefly, Dragon Dragonfly and Will-O-The-Wisp.
