Inventory Bug? - Items (Books primarily) not moveable, sticjing to cursor, etc.

Having a slight issue with my game ever since I merged my two Origins accounts, and while there's a workaround, I rather want it fixed.

Since the merge I've noticed that my Sims inventory is incredibly bugged regarding books. When I try to move them from the inventory, 75% of the time the icon ends up stuck to my cursor and then completely glued to the inventory itself, creating a duplicate icon semi overlaping the first when I try to move it again. 

After this, all inventory items will copy the sane behavior of the books and become unmoveable.

I do have a few workarounds but as stated above I'd rather this issue be fixed as I'm now concerned something got messed up regarding my game account entirely and I fear there been more extensive damage done. The reason for this assumption is due inpart to this incident occuring on two separate PCs. So now I'm worried that it is not actually a game file issue but an account issue.

I've had a similar ongoing problem with my Sims 3 game/account on both PCs and customer service was extremely dodgy/unhelpful in the resolution (AKA nothing got resolved, my game is still bugged and now I fear Sims 4 is also messed up).

Any advice would be appreciated. Mods or no mods gives the same result so I don't believe that's the reason.
