Issue with curved platforms. Can't put wallpaper/etc. on walls anywhere.
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Steam-PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.94.147.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Eco Lifestyle, Get To Work, Up All Night, Seasons, Life of the Party, Awesome Animal Hats
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make a house with curved walls. Add a curved platform against the curved wall. Rebuild the outer curved walls after the platform deletes them (because that's still a thing). Try to put wallpaper/paint/paneling/etc. on the curved portion if you can even get the curved wall to stay after attempting to rebuild them.
What happens when the bug occurs? Curved wall with curved platform does not accept wallpaper. Upon attempt, error message received: "Walls must be part of room, stairs, or roof." Wallpaper works without platform, so something with the platform is screwing it up. Sometimes the platform, walls, and floor disappear completely and leave your furniture floating in the air. I've attempted this both with cheats and without cheats, after cleaning the game files, and restarting the game multiple times. Nothing changes every time.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to still put wallpaper on my walls when I have a curved platform against an outer curved wall.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
I tested this and was able to apply wallpaper with no problem. See pics below. I did find that working with the curved walls and platforms is a bit of a pain though. I had trouble getting the walls back after placing the platform at first and it took some experimentation to do it. Like many aspects of the build system, the order in which you do things does make a difference. One thing that I found is that using the round walls does break the room so that explains the error message you got. All you have to do is redraw the straight sections of walls, including, around the back sides of the platform to get the room to reestablish itself. Then you can delete the back walls along the platform, so the game sees the space as a room again. You do end up with 2 rooms as far as the build system sees it, one for the round wall/platform space and one for the rest of the room. Visually, it looks like one big room though. Here are outside and inside views of my test build.
As you can see, the wallpaper is there. So, I suggest you have another go with it. The order I ended up using to get it to work is to:
Draw a square room and delete the tiles where the round section will be on the corner. Also delete the floor where the round walls go.
Place the platform.Place the round wall section on top of the platform. The platform will seem to disappear. Select the round wall/platform room and use the platform arrows to raise the platform.
Delete the back walls of the round wall/platform section.Add wallpaper and floor tiles.
Hope this helps.
