Lag after 1.103: Slow&Unresponsive Sims after update from December 5th

So my game just updated now and I went in to play, and I have noticed that the time goes way slower, which I like.

However, I also noticed that Sims will now take absolute ages to do anything, if they do it at all.

Example: I wanted my Sim to put laundry from the hamper into the machine, the action showed up in the queue, but my Sim just stood there for about 3.5 Sim hours until I hit reset object.

My teen SIm took 5-ish hours to finish her homework.

All household Sims were supposed to return from School/work at 3pm as usual. They were all still in school/work by 4pm.

[edited title to gather multiple threads here]

  • I had that too when mods are enabled but not when disabled so it had to be a mod, I'm pretty confident it was MCCC, after I updated that mod response times and basically everything came back to normal, except for one thing: Sims now take showers all the time! Like they are just out of the shower and they want to go again. Anyway, try updating MCCC, it worked for me.

@BitterPearlCos Localthumbcache is a file in Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If you use mods and CC, you need to know about this one because you need to delete it anytime you remove content from Mods.

What happens in a new save? For the new household, was it on a different lot? Ideally a lot that comes with the game, not one created by you or from the Gallery.

@dee15644 There can be a lot of causes of this other than mods and CC, but one that's come to my attention recently is a sudden huge excess of unhoused Sims. Have a look in Manage Households to see if a whole lot of new ones have generated, and delete them.

Other than that, common causes are -- depending on what your computer can handle -- lining up too many things in a row for the Sims to do, large households, and really stuffed large lots with lots of items that can be interacted with. Excess stuff in inventory can factor in too.

  • My sims are so slow and unresponsive the game is unplayable. I removed all mods and resetting the Sims doesn't work either. This has been since For Rent came out. It's so unplayable that I just don't play anymore and I've been playing the Sims since Sims 1 came out, I'm quite upset. I thought the latest update would fix it but no. I think I'mm going to try uninstalling For Rent and just have to play without it even though I spent money on it, is there any way of getting a refund?

@ktbrennan484 When you removed the Mods folder, did you also delete the file called localthumbcache? And do you get the same lag in a new save, or in a different household on a small base game lot in your current save?
